Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell

What an interesting book!! The premise of the book is that the people that we think of as "self-made" are not so much a result of a meritocracy as they are the beneficiaries of certain advantages. Cultural heritage and being in the right place at the right time plus 10,000 hours at a particular skill are what makes the star performer in a chosen field. Very thought provoking!!
