Memorial Days to come

On this Memorial Day let us pause to think of those who are still living but will be maimed or killed in the coming years and decades in Iraq, Afghanistan, Yemen, Libya, Somalia, et al. Let us think of all the children who will spend their lives without that parent so that the government in Afghanistan stays in power. Let us think of the widows and widowers who lost the love of their life so that Libya and Somalia are free of despotism. Let us think of the parents who will bury a child in pursuit of democracy in Iraq.  Let us carefully consider and count the cost of what we are doing.

Getting caught up to you. Congratulations on your new family member! It seems that wild weather is everywhere these days. We have been lucky lately, but hurricane season is coming up.
I was thinking about Memorial Day and reflecting on the many who have sacrificed for others and had their lives cut short, like the young man who was stabbed to death in Portland trying to defend two women who were being harassed by an anti-Muslim hater. The saddest thing is not to be able to live out one's life, I think.

I am always left with the thought 'will it ever end?' ....Bill says follow the money -- people make a lot of it on the war machinery. It is the young kids who always suffer.

Sallie, that's my thought too--> will it ever end?? And like Bill says, Follow the money. So as long as it keeps the military indurial complex flush, there will be a new crop of maimed and dead to mourn next Memorial Day.
