The fawn and eggs are cool. But, that snake is creepy! Happy Friday!

Are copperheads poisonous?

Hattie, copperheads are poisonous but like most snakes, they are very reitcent. This one is playing dead until I move away.

OH just look at that sweet kildeer nest! Last summer in Oregon, the manager of our RV Park had one whole space marked off with yellow tape because there was a killdeer nest there. I thought it was so cool that she'd give up the income to protect the birds.

It was really interesting to read you comment on FT-L (my blog) that the Texas Gulf Coast has been so rainy this season. I had not heard that before you wrote. I'm glad you have Spring now -- and I'm glad we weren't there for the rain. (We did love the Texas Gulf when we stayed there for two or three winters. )

Sallie, I wonder how on earth the killdeer manage to rear their chicks because they are so unprotected out in the open and everything from fire ants to snakes to feral cats after the babies. But evidently they do.
