Around OakMeadows

This is Mikey, one of our resident raccoons.
Around OakMeadows

Yesterday our daughter and son-in-law came over for Labor Day BBQ. And they brought with them their new puppy. It is a little female goldendoodle. She is 10 weeks old and just darling. They named her Lucy. My little dog, Angie, was just ecstatic to have another canine around. The cats were more or less disgusted by all the attention being paid to a dog.

That horrible man in the White House is ending the DACA program unless Congress passes legislation to make it a permanent program. Congress (Republicans) isn't exactly known for getting things done. So the DACA recipients' lives are thrown into limbo.  And the rubble pile grows.

I've started on my next quilt top.  It will be another scrap quilt. I will post photos soon.

I'm reading a very interesting book, Shattered by Jonathan Allen. It is about why Hillary Clinton lost the election. I was as stunned as anyone by the loss and have honestly wondered how on earth it happened. I'm only about 1/4 of the way through it and it is making more sense to me. I will write a review when I finish it.

Things are slowly returning to normal around OakMeadows. All the water is gone. Thee grocery store is open albeit on reduced hours. And best of all the Whataburger drive through is open. There are still some road closures but alternate routes are open.  My thoughts are with the people in Florida who are facing Hurricane Irma.

I swear to God I think my late-in-life Ulcerative Colitis is directly related to 45. :(

Hello, I have heard about this book and have seen the author doing interviews. It sounds interesting. I hope truck loads of water are headed to Texas. Now, we have Irma to worry about. Hurricane season this year seems bad. The Goldendoodle pup sounds cute, I wish I could see a photo. Cute raccoon. Have a great day!

Silver Willow, I belong to an online group Americans of Conscience, and we are always being reminded to take care of ourselves because this long stressful ordeal is damaging to our health. The young woman who founded the group was out with pneumonia, I was in the hospital for 3 days, and several others who participate have been ill. I agree your ulcerative colitis was certainly not helped by that horrible man.

That raccoon is adorable (I know not everybody loves them and sometimes for good reason, but they're so darn cute.) No picture of your daughter's pup? We're not in Florida now, but from all the way across the country we're sure watching Irma, which will probably come down right on top of our Florida "cottage"... (It's a park model trailer, so.....; the all-year residents in our resort are under evacuation).. I've never agreed with the idiot governor of our winter-time state before, but he is right when he says stuff can be replaced, lives cannot.

Oh my goodness, Sallie, I hope your "cottage" is spared!! My SIL's Daughter is cleaning up and tearing out her carpet and Sheetrock from about 8 inches of water in her house. It's a mess and we had very little wind. Irma has terrible winds. So glad you are not there. All you have to deal with now is the state of Oregon on fire....Stay safe!!
