Great pictures -- they almost never hold still for me. Someone told me recently to get to the Butterfly Park early in the morning -- she said before they warm up they don't flit as much. I have to try that.
Sallie, it is all in the camera. The camera is a Canon T3i and the lens is Canon 100-400mm zoom lens with IS (image stabilizer) A good trick is to simply be still in front of a good nectar source.
I love to see butterflies flitting about! I've only seen one monarch and one admiral this summer but I hope the monarchs come back to my swan plant and butterfly plant that I put in my garden just for them :)
Hello, Nora! We love butterflies too! In fact we are turning out flower beds into butterfly habitat. We live on the Texas Gulf Coast so we do have a long butterfly season but occasionally we drive down to the Rio Grande Valley for some extra butterflies. Thanks for stopping by. Hope you have a great week.

So beautiful. I love butterflies, but they are hard to capture.
